I waited for ya, I waited for ya
I waited on ya, but now I don't
You didn't see it, I didn't see it
I didn't see it, but now, I do
I play your game, I play your game
Now
I play your game, I play your game

I take my chances alone
Get on your horse and be gone
I will not wait up for you anymore
So you can ask me if somethin' is wrong
Will you go?
I don't know anymore

When the night isn't ready for you
It's a fleeting unorthodox view
They invited a stewardess too
Now they want you to see it
Here's to days he decides he's got time
And he claims that it's not a surprise
When he finds out the truth's on his side

I take my chances alone
Get on your horse and be gone
I will not wait up for you anymore
So you can ask me if something is wrong
Will you go?
I don't know anymore
I don't believe anyone
As they crawl out of my way

Waiting for the night
Leaving night by night
You can see me travel
We could be in trouble every night
Why haven't you arrived?

You've given this person many chances as they play their games and you're saying to them forget about it, be gone out of here as I have had enough of your bull and I am gonna take my changes alone rather than with a player :)

To me the song is about a guy who finally gives up waiting for a girl that he'll probably never get. For too long he's played by her rules but now he's realized that he can't waste his life waiting for her anymore and he's better off alone and he's moving on, even though he might still have feelings for her.

    My Interpretation

This song it has a special meaning to me. I used to remember a quite traumatic break up with a gal I lasted for 8 years... but now I take it as reflects the definitive emotional break up with my parents and specially with my mother. I always play their games where I was never enough as a Son nor as a Person to them. Not anymore... I'll take my chances alone.

    My Interpretation

I think it's about a wife/girlfriend cheating. The husband/boyfriend suspects this, but doesn't confront her. He finds evidence of her plans to cheat and follows her sometimes to confirm what he already knew. It's not a surprise, but it still hurts like it is. So, he starts cheating, too.

I think of this song as Julian Casablancas waiting for his father to appear, come see or visit him but he (the father) disappoints every time. Lovely, lovely song but equally heartbreaking.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
