As she submarines
The rope loops 'round her feeble feet
Before the dawn
Breaks on her sorry grasp

In a blink and in one motion
Rope constricts
Rips her towards the ocean

She never finds her bearings
Sucking splash into her lungs

Ooh
Ooh
Ooh ooh
Ooh ooh
Though I cannot see
I can hear her smile as she sings

And though I cannot see
I can hear her smile as she sings

Oh ooh
Ooh

This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. What this song is trying to describe is a girl drowning herself. She's slowly sinking with a rope around her ankles, weighing her down. She's being pushed around by the waves, but can't swim back up. At the end she's smiling, because she's happy to leave.

I hear this song as someone attempting to cope with the pain they carry. It drags her around and down, until the moment of acceptance of the drowning in sorrow when she can finally release the struggle.
