Midnight
You come and pick me up, no headlights
Long drive
Could end in burning flames or paradise
Fade into view, oh
It's been a while since I have even heard from you (heard from you)

And I should just tell you to leave 'cause I
Know exactly where it leads, but I
Watch us go 'round and 'round each time

You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye
And I got that red lip classic thing that you like
And when we go crashing down, we come back every time
'Cause we never go out of style, we never go out of style
You got that long hair, slicked back, white T-shirt
And I got that good girl faith and a tight little skirt
And when we go crashing down, we come back every time
'Cause we never go out of style, we never go out of style

So it goes
He can't keep his wild eyes on the road, mm
Takes me home
The lights are off, he's taking off his coat, mm, yeah
I say, "I heard, oh
That you've been out and about with some other girl, some other girl"

He says, "What you heard is true, but I
Can't stop thinkin' 'bout you and I"
I said, "I've been there too a few times"

'Cause you got that James Dean daydream look in your eye
And I got that red lip classic thing that you like
And when we go crashing down, we come back every time
'Cause we never go out of style, we never go out of style
You got that long hair, slicked back, white T-shirt
And I got that good girl faith and a tight little skirt (a tight little skirt)
And when we go crashing down, we come back every time
'Cause we never go out of style (we never go), we never go out of style

Take me home
Just take me home
Yeah, just take me home
Oh, whoa, oh
(Out of style)

Oh, you got that James Dean daydream look in your eye
And I got that red lip classic thing that you like
And when we go crashing down (now we go), we come back every time
'Cause we never go out of style, we never go out of style

Another song that isn’t quite what it first appears, “Style” is ostensibly about timeless fashions. “You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye,” Swift sings, “And I got that red lip classic thing you like.” But, slowly and subtly, it reveals itself to be something slightly more sinister: a song about a relationship that goes round and round but is never quite healthy. “When we come crashing down we come back every time,” continues the chorus, “We never go out of style.” The arrangement matches the noir-ish feel perfectly, with Nile Rodgers-y funky guitar and a chugging synth riff that would fit right in on the Drive soundtrack.

I think this song is basically about being drawn to someone. It's not just a physical attraction, but also an emotional pull. In theory you fit together perfectly, but every time you get together it just ends badly. I think the part at the end where she screams "take me home" is her telling the guy she's had enough, she's not going round and round anymore, and she really does want him to take her home.

    My Interpretation

This song is about a girl in an unhealthy relationship with a player. We've all been there. "I heard that you been out and about with some other girl/he said what you've heard is true/but I can't stop thinking about you" This guy is dragging her along for what feels like is a physical relationship with a lack of emotional attraction. She loves him, he wants to sleep with her. Hence why he only comes to pick her up at midnight with no headlights. "Good girl faith and a tight little skirt" enhances this perfectly, because she wants to believe he truly wants her and only her but she gives in to what he wants rather than what she wants. In typical manner, she can't lose this bad boy.

The accompanying music video was directed by Kyle Newman. On February 10, 2015, Swift posted a teaser for the music video and its release date on Instagram. The video showed Swift's head and steam/smoke tendrils rising up her neck. A second teaser was posted on Swift's social media accounts the next day, depicting shadowy trees on her back. A third teaser was released showing lightning and two different colored eyes being projected onto Swift as she stands against a blank backdrop.

The video was scheduled to be released on Good Morning America on February 13, 2015, but appeared a few hours before the scheduled time through Canadian music channel Much. The video was then quickly uploaded to Swift's official Vevo. Swift's love interest in the video is played by model Dominic Sherwood,[20] whose eyes are two different colors due to heterochromia. Some of the scenes were shot in the Hercules Cave in Tangier, Morocco as she mentioned it on Facebook.

    Memory

It's a relationship (most likely friends with benefits) that's just a vicious cycle - he disappears and reappears as he likes, basically calling the shots - but neither can fully quit it or each other. And in the end, they ignore all the red flags and repeated mistakes because they both want each other (though it may be a more emotional attachment on her side).

It kills me because I'm going through this right now. He's a total mindf*** and I should have exited stage left months ago, but I can't help but stick with it for the few good moments. And it doesn't matter if I ask for advice or not from others, because I'm just going to stay the course in hopes that he'll call again. Thank goodness Taylor can adequately express what I cannot. (And write a simple bridge that I can yell along with in the car, haha.)

    My Interpretation

The song seems to talk about a relationship that can never really seem to be over despite the desire moving on.

The song seems to begin by talking about what the relationship was like. "Midnight" and with "no headlights" giving that idea that while they're together, they have no idea where they're going. The lines "Long drive, could end in burning things or paradise" can be thought of as a call back to the previous song, Blank Space with the line "So it's gonna be forever or it's gonna go down in flames". Both lyrics suggests that these types of relationships are all or nothing. There is no middle ground.

She knows that this bad for her ("I should just tell you leave cause know exactly where it exactly where it leads") but she can't help herself and relapses into him. (But I watch it go round and round each time")

The Chorus plays on classic fashion tropes that are timeless and never get old. The "James Dean" look and the "Red Lip Classic" are things that will always been around and not something to get bored of easily. In comparing the relationship to this, she's saying that things she'll always come back to this relationship because it never goes out of style.

The second verse talks about the aftermath of breaking up, "The lights are off" as he "takes off his coat" shows that there's still some physical attraction between to the two. They talk about their time apart ("I've heard that you've been out and about with some other girl" ) and while he admits he's in the wrong ("He says what you heard is true") , she also confesses to doing the same thing ("I said I've been there too a few times"). Despite this however, they still come back together because they can't stop thinking about each other.

The bridge is a simple "Just take me home" which implies that she doesn't want to feel this way anymore. She just wants to go home and for this "long drive" to end. She's tired and wants to move on but she can't help herself when he comes into her life. They're both in a cycle of lust, desire and longing that they keep coming back to. To her, he is toxic but timeless.

    My Opinion

Maybe if she didn't put the things in the song that make it seem like it's about timeless fashions (His James Dean daydream look in his eyes, long hair slicked back white t shirt and her red lipstick and tight skirt), then we'd know what it's really about.

    My Interpretation

the song is clearly about unhealthy on-off relationship between a girl who had "a good faith" and a bad boy who just wanted a physical relationship without emotional attachment, thats why he just "pick her up" in the midnight. And it's been "round and round", the girl "knew exactly where it leads" but kept taking him back, until she felt so drained she beg him to "take her home".

Just had to say -- the phrase "never go out of style" was actually in the TV show Friends, which everyone knows Taylor loves. In Season 4, Episode 16 "The One with the Fake Party" there is a scene early on in the episode where Rachel is thinking of sneaking a note into her crush's pocket. Chandler reads the note aloud, which says "Guys like you never go out of style". Although this may not be what inspired Taylor I just thought it was an interesting connection and was surprised no one else had made it. Another interesting thing: in the show, that line gets a laugh from the audience, I'm assuming since it's uber cheesy? Taylor was able to make it uber cool, instead.

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
