Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.
Sweet creature
Had another talk about where it's going wrong
But we're still young
We don't know where we're going
But we know where we belong
And oh we started
Two hearts in one home
It's hard when we argue
We're both stubborn
I know, but oh
Sweet creature, sweet creature
Wherever I go, you bring me home
Sweet creature, sweet creature
When I run out of road, you bring me home
Sweet creature
We're running through the garden
Oh, where nothing bothered us
But we're still young
I always think about you and how we don't speak enough
And oh we started
Two hearts in one home
I know, it's hard when we argue
We're both stubborn
I know, but oh
Sweet creature, sweet creature
Wherever I go, you bring me home
Sweet creature, sweet creature
When I run out of road, you bring me home
I know when we started
Just two hearts in one home
It gets harder when we argue
We're both stubborn
I know, but oh
Sweet creature, sweet creature
Wherever I go, you bring me home
Sweet creature, sweet creature
When I run out of road, you bring me home
You'll bring me home
Had another talk about where it's going wrong
But we're still young
We don't know where we're going
But we know where we belong
And oh we started
Two hearts in one home
It's hard when we argue
We're both stubborn
I know, but oh
Sweet creature, sweet creature
Wherever I go, you bring me home
Sweet creature, sweet creature
When I run out of road, you bring me home
Sweet creature
We're running through the garden
Oh, where nothing bothered us
But we're still young
I always think about you and how we don't speak enough
And oh we started
Two hearts in one home
I know, it's hard when we argue
We're both stubborn
I know, but oh
Sweet creature, sweet creature
Wherever I go, you bring me home
Sweet creature, sweet creature
When I run out of road, you bring me home
I know when we started
Just two hearts in one home
It gets harder when we argue
We're both stubborn
I know, but oh
Sweet creature, sweet creature
Wherever I go, you bring me home
Sweet creature, sweet creature
When I run out of road, you bring me home
You'll bring me home

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

He certainly did earn that reputation.

"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
H wrote this song based off of a very important relationship to him. They had their arguments and the relationship had its drama. But at the end of the day Harry knew that only that person felt like home (they also lived together) and that they could always stick it through in the end. Kinda reminds me of Back To You by Louis Tomlinson and of course Niall wrote a song named You and Me which seems to have a similar concept.
@sweettes oh right forgot to mention that H and Louis lived together + probably still do
@sweettes omg, the sass!! :)
@sweettes I actually helped Harry Styles Write "Sweet Creature"
i personal think its about Louis from 1D lmao
Sweet creature Had another talk about where it's going wrong But we're still young We don't know where we're going But we know where we belong
like to me he's just describing that he knows shit has been rough for them, he knows their love isn't simple but they're still young they have time to figure shit out. They know they belong together, they know it won't be easy.
And oh we started Two hearts in one home It's hard when we argue We're both stubborn I know, but oh
i think he's talking about how they started off really good and free, then management came and fucked it up for them and now they argue about shit and they're both stubborn about shit, but Harry knows he can't leave him.
Sweet creature, sweet creature Wherever I go, you bring me home Sweet creature, sweet creature When I run out of road, you bring me home
i think the sweet creature is Louis and i think Louis is his home, and even though their relationship might be fucked up because of hiding and being in the closet but he knows the he's his home.
Sweet creature We're running through the garden Oh, where nothing bothered us But we're still young I always think about you and how we don't speak enough
I think Harry is talking about how they have to go somewhere hella secretive because no one can catch them together, and since management doesn't like them being so close Harry misses not be able to talk to Louis enough in public like in the old days.
that's what i think lol, you can disagree idc but this song has so much meaning to Harry so who ever or what ever its about i'm glad they're in Harry's life. (:
In my personal opinion I think the song is about Gemma, Harry’s sister.
“Sweet creature Had another talk about where it's going wrong But we're still young We don't know where we're going But we know where we belong”
I think what he’s saying here is that they know that there’s something in the way of them getting closer as siblings, but there still young and have plenty of time to figure it out. He also knows that whatever there going through they will make it out ok in the end.
“And oh we started Two hearts in one home It's hard when we argue We're both stubborn I know”
Harry and Gemma obviously grew up together, and it’s hard on both of them when they argue but there both stubborn (pretty self explanatory).
“Sweet creature, sweet creature Wherever I go, you bring me home Sweet creature, sweet creature When I run out of road, you bring me home”
Where ever he goes Gemma will always remind him of where his home is with her and his family.
“Sweet creature We're running through the garden Oh, where nothing bothered us But we're still young I always think about you and how we don't speak enough”
He remembers a time when nothing was as complicated and he and Gemma would just run through the garden care free.
Sounds like it's about a young couple who argues but knows ultimately they belong together.
I think it's saying that you should live life to the fullest and have fun
you don't talk like that to your sister so of course it's for his Partner
I Actually Helped Harry Styles Write "Sweet Creature"
I think this is about Louis ik in a interview he said it was about Gemma but I don't believe it my reasons I think it's about Louis is 1 they lived together in the X factor house and after they moved away from their parents "we started two hearts in one home" we know that 'home' is used alot between the two of them and they started as best friends back on X factor and became more 2 "we're both stubborn I know" we saw thorough out 1D that they are both stubborn and started to argue alot (now we know why thank you Louis) and they wouldn't give up till the other on did 3 he calls the person in the song 'sweet creature' witch yes in a way I guess if it is about Gemma he could be calling her sweet but we also know Louis is one of the sweetest people on earth and would do anything for someone those are my top 3 reasons I think it's about Louis I also think there is many more references to Louis but those are at the top
Louis wrote this song
@gesundheit69 Not according to the official credits. Harry Styles and Thomas Hull are credited with writing the lyrics.

There are apparently rumours that Harry wrote this song for Louis (and that they are romantically involved). Of course both have denied this rumour
@gesundheit69 when harry styles writes songs he gets inspiration from females and relationships
For me it's obvious that this song is about Harry's sister Gemma. Actually, it's not even worth to write the lyrics that I think prove my opinion here, cuz for me all the lyrics are about their relationships, and how he misses her cuz he thinks they "don't speak enough", and how she reminds him about his home and where their hearts belong.
@Marika makes a lot of sense when you look at the lyrics. I wasn't aware of the relationship he had / has with his sister. But the "two hearts in one home" seems to speak of this relationship.
@Marika that's gross seriously
@Marika Whaou didn't know incest was your thing marika
