Close to my skin, I'm falling in someone who's been
Sittin' by the phone, I'm left alone in another zone
John says to live above hell, my will is well
No one is waiting for me to fail and my will could sail, yeah

It's such a waste to be wasted in the first place
I wanna taste the taste of being face to face with common grace
To meditate on the warmest dream
And when I walk alone I listen to our secret theme

Your solar eyes are like nothing I have ever seen
Somebody close that can see right through
I'd take a fall and you know that I'd do anything
I will for you

Sailin' for the sun, 'cause there is one that knows where I'm from
I care for you, I really do, I really do
Come closer now so you can lie right by my side
I sit alone in the sun, I wrote a letter to you gettin' over myself, yeah

Your solar eyes are like nothing I have ever seen
Somebody close that can see right through
I'd take a fall and you know that I'd do anything
I will for you
Your solar eyes are like nothing I have ever seen
Somebody close that was made for you
I'd take a fall and you know that I'd do anything
I will for you

Close to my skin, someone who's been, I'm falling in
Disasters are just another star falling in my yard
John says to live above hell and my will is well
Long to be with someone to tell, "I love your smell"

k, this is onna their best songs lemme say that first. but I think the song is about never being able to have the person you want. Loving someone so hard but them not loving you back. "I'd take a fall and you know that I'd do anything I will for you." "sitting alone in the sun I wrote a letter to you, gettin' over myself" He's hurting really bad. This girl took his breath away and he's not with her. Great song.

my first impression was that Anthony is so taken by a girl that he'd "take a fall", knowing that he'd "do anything, i will for you". it's not just the sex (so beyond the 'velvet glove' ... and besides, we know how messy the Chilis can get), it's the being "close to my skin". she stuns him, and his friends can see it. they also see that she doesn't really have a clue how much he's into her. they're laughing so he can't say anything to anyone about it, but he wants to. otherwise, maybe they don't believe his sincerity, sort of like 'Sea of No Cares' by Great Big Sea.

i know it kinda seems like he's talking about a girl and there are so many things that could be interpreted as sex now i think about it. but i think this songs about him and John. and how he was so worried about John when john was hooked. its really difficult to explain but i think he's saying that he loves john so much and he really wants him back 'come closer now so you can lie right by my side'. and he's sorry about being a dick before JF quit the band - 'i write a letter to you getting over myself' (cos AK was on a seriously high horse before Joh went. 'It's such a waste'- talkin about being on drugs 'your solar eyes are like nothing i've ever seen' - John so high and out of it that Anthony saying 'your eyes were like nothing i've ever seen'...it obviously affected AK alot and it is really disturbing seeing interviews of John when he was like that. I think he's also talking about the temptation of doing drugs 'no one is waiting for me to fail' (no ones waiting for him to relapse so know one would know) but he now knows john will watch his back and make sure he's alright 'there's one who knows where i'm from'. He' expressing his sadness for Johns condition and praying that John doesn't die -'disasters are just another star falling in my yard' (cos Hillel died then River Phoenix and then Kurt Cobain he doesn't want any other person around him to die because he loves them all) In this song overall i think AK is expressing his compassion and absoloute love for his best friend pretty much. This velvet glove is describing how he knows it might look to anybody else (like he doesn't care about John) when actually, secretly he longs to be with someone to tell that he loves John smell (his presence and everything about him)

I love this song cos it embodies all the worry and care that we should have for each other - i know that sounded so pretentious but it's true

xx(in the spirit of loving each other) haha

i beleive that hes righting to him self. his former heroin addict. as an addict hell do anything to feed that part of himself. break promises, freind ships, and eventually the trust you have in your own self. please just listen to the song with this possibility in mind. Im a recovering heroin addict trying to detox of methadone and have not cared much for any music for a long time but this song hellped me get to where i am today. right now is the first time in years that im starting to feel true emotion, pain and love. its all apoart of life that heroin takes away. thats what this song means to me, and regardless of its true meaning has hellped me. thanks for reading.

"its such a waste to be wasted in the first place"

dont fake your love towards someone, cuz if they find out its fake, things might not go too well...

Gadjits, The
He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

The Spy

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
