White Ferrari
Frank Ocean Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Bad luck to talk on these rides
Mine on the road, your dilated eyes watch the clouds float
White Ferrari, had a good time
(Sweet sixteen, how was I supposed to know anything?)
I let you out at Central
I didn't care to state the plain
Kept my mouth closed
We're both so familiar
White Ferrari

Stick by me (good times), close by me
You were fine, you were fine here
That's just a slow body
You left when I forgot to speak
So I text the speech, lesser speeds, Texas speed, yes
Basic takes its toll on me, 'ventually, 'ventually, yes
Ah, on me 'ventually, 'ventually, yes

I care for you still and I will forever
That was my part of the deal, honest
We got so familiar
Spending each day of the year
White Ferrari (oh), good times

In this life (life)
In this life (life)

One too many years, some tattooed eyelids on a facelift
(Thought you might wanna know now)
Mind over matter is magic, I do magic
If you think about it, it'll be over in no time
And that's life

I'm sure we're taller in 'nother dimension
You say we're small and not worth the mention
You're tired of movin', your body's achin'
We could vacay, there's places to go
Clearly this isn't all that there is
Can't take what's been given
But we're so okay here
We're doing fine, primal and naked
You dream of walls that hold us in prison

It's just a skull, least that's what they call it
And we're free to roam

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Frank Ocean’s White Ferrari are layered with images and emotions. The song is about a relationship that fell apart and the sense of longing that follows. The opening line “Bad luck to talk on these rides” sets the tone for the song. It suggests that the relationship was tumultuous and that talking about it could make it worse. The singer seems to be reflecting on the past and how things have changed. The line “Mine on the road, your dilated eyes watch the clouds float” describes a moment of intimacy and vulnerability. They are on a ride together, and the singer notices their partner’s eyes are dilated, maybe from drugs or alcohol. The image of the clouds floating is a contrast to their shaky relationship. It suggests that despite everything, there are still moments of beauty.

The chorus of the song revolves around a white Ferrari. It is a symbol of their relationship, of the good times they had, and the memories that were made. The line “Stick by me, close by me, you were fine, you were fine here” suggests that being in the car together was enough. They didn’t need anything else. The singer admits that they made mistakes, but they still care for their partner. The line “I care for you still and I will forever, that was my part of the deal, honest” is a powerful declaration of love. The song ends with a dreamlike quality. The singer imagines another dimension where they are taller and free to roam. It is a poignant moment that suggests that despite everything, there is still hope.

you will heal, don’t worry buddy.
everything takes time.
you can’t solve everything in one day.
you will find genuine love again.
days won’t seem pointless anymore.
you will be happy.
you will love.
you are loved.
keep going okay? don’t quit now.
i believe in you.
i love you.

She was the sun. The woman that carries the brightest eyes. The one with a radiant smile that feels like the morning dew, my favorite view.

She was my yellow, the one that made me see my own worth and value. A presence where comfort shines the brightest hue.

But, just like the sun, all things have to set. Seeing its radiance slowly fades away into the horizon's view, felt the emptiness, realizing that I lost you.

She was the love that got away, a dagger stuck in my chest. Fleeting moments turns into painful echos, reminding me of the love I couldn't pursue.

She was a part of my past, finding solace in another's arms. A betrayal that cuts too deep, Leaving me stranded, lost and without a clue

A tale that ended without a start. It was over, but the memories you left behind still haunts me down. So please tell me, How can I forget you?

@GabrielaAmanda

A boy introduced me to this song and Frank Ocean's music, he was all i've ever wanted, this was our song, out of 8 billions people in this world, we found each other in such a funny coincidence, too bad we broke up.

He did, however, taught me how love should feel like, but he also taught me how love could break you to pieces. Lost my heart when i started loving him, now we are strangers that might know each other's pasts a little too well because we used to live in each other's.

Sweet, sweet boy, if youre reading this, i forgive you, but i can never forget how i felt so betrayed with the truth i will never be ready to swallow.

You said you'd always be there for me, you'd always choose me and choose us, but you weren't there at nights when i needed you the most, you weren't there when i couldn't get up from the floor when i got drunk every night.

It's been a year since you broke my heart, but my heart only recognizes you as the boy who made it fluttered and provided it the warmth it needed. I'm sure we'd still be in love in another dimension, we weren't strong enough but we tried.

Closing the chapter of us a long time ago, but sometimes I still smile and giggle at the thought of us.
