This version of “Recess,” unique to “Origin of Muse,” is based on the “Different Take” version that probably predates the version released on the “Unintended” single and the Hullabaloo Soundtrack, since this version (without piano) was performed in September 1999 before the final studio version was recorded in October and performed in November. Notably, the first 2 verses are sung back to back instead of being separated by the chorus, and the 3rd verse is based on scrapped lyrics from the “Sunburn” demo. The piano is unique to this recording, as Bellamy played keys very rarely on the Showbiz tour and thus stuck to the guitar version for the final product probably for this reason.
