Has to Be Lyrics

[Intro]
Breathe in, breathe out
I say a little prayer
How the gods above
Could be so unfair

[Chorus]
I know there's someone out there
Waiting for me
There must be someone out there
There just has to be

[Verse 1]
Go on, go on
Don't sit there like a fool
You've graduated from
A different kind of school

[Chorus]
I know there's someone out there
Waiting for me
There must be someone out there
There just has to be

[Verse 2]
I should be glad that I'm alive
It could have been much worse
I might have never loved at all
And never known what I am worth
How the gods above
Could be so unfair
[Chorus]
I know there's someone out there
Waiting for me
There must be someone out there
There just has to be
I know there's someone out there
Waiting for me
There must be someone out there
There just has to be

About

Genius Annotation

“Has To Be” is an outtake from Madonna’s Ray of Light. The midtempo electro-pop song appeared as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of the album and as a B-side on the American and European “Ray of Light” single.

At the end of the recording sessions for Ray of Light, Madonna and William Orbit had fourteen tracks completed; however, Madonna was deep into her studies of Kabbalah which teaches that the number thirteen is a supremely lucky number, necessitating the removal of one track from the album’s official tracklist.

Genius Answer

Though it’s never been commercially released, William Orbit did play the instrumental track that would become “Has to Be” on his KCRW radio show Stereo Odyssey. You can listen to that demo version here.
