When talking about her sophomore album in her NikkieTutorials “Power Of Makeup” video, Beer confirmed she had written a song dedicated to her younger brother, Ryder Beer. Beer has described it as a “slower” track. Madison has also said that the track is probably her favorite on the album.
While promoting her memoir, The Half of It, Madison said multiple times that she tried to protect her brother while her parents were going through a divorce. With this song being so emotional and about my brother, he still annoys the fuck outta me to this day sometimes, and we still fight, and we’re not just like holding hands, giving out on the street like, “Oh, I love Ryder.” I think it’s important to note that with songs like this that sound like they’re just like, “Wow, you must be in such a healed place and you guys are probably just so healthy, and amazing.” Like that’s not realistic, that’s not real life.
