EAT ME, DRINK ME Lyrics

[Verse]
In the wasteland, on the way to the Red Queen
It's no wonder our stage clothes have dreams to be famous
The trees in the courtyard are painted in blood
So I've heard she hangs the headless upside down to drain

[Refrain]
Eat me, drink me
This is only a game
This is only a game

[Pre-Chorus]
I was invited to a beheading, today
I thought I was a butterfly next to your flame
A rush of panic and the lock has been raped
This is only a game, this is only a game

[Chorus]
But then our star rushes in
Feeling like a child and looking like a woman
She's been forecast with an attempt to kill herself
But the ending didn't test well

[Refrain]
Eat me, drink me
This is only a game

About

Genius Annotation

EAT ME, DRINK ME, is the 11th and final song of the album “Eat me, Drink me”, ending the vampire-inspired gothic theme of the album. The lyrics are quite abstract, but a few references can be seen through out the song. The title references Jesus Christ who said to eat his body and drink his blood. The “Alice in Wonderland” inspiration present in the album can be seen here in the Red Queen whose trees are painted blood red, and is fond of beheadings, which is also a reference to the work of russian-american novelist Vladimir Nabokov, “Invitation to a Beheading”. Another of his works is referenced in the phrase “This is only a game, this is only a game”, which appears in his book “Lolita”.
