Maneater Lyrics

[Verse I]
If she only comes out at night, then I’m sleeping
Stays cold hearted and I’m heated
Won’t get nothing if she quits game-speaking but
Hold your applause my friend, stay seated

Gets you for what she wants and then leaves it
Throw herself back for the golden retrievers
Careful man, she’ll get your gold off you
Then she’ll ruin your rep like the daughter of Joan Crawford

Look on the bright side brother you’ll get grown
Sooner or later you’ll find a lady of your own
You can buy a palace with a champion thrown
And she won’t waste your time like the one before

So not everything seems to be
The way you want the way you thought the way you hope and dream
Leave you with the rain falling in the streets
The same way she did to me, now listen up brother

[Hook]
Oh here she comes
Watch out boy she’ll chew you up
Oh here she comes
She’s a maneater tell her mans keep her
Oh here she comes
You can have all of her mess
Oh here she comes
You can’t read her hope you delete her
[Verse II]
Believe it when I say that she cannot fulfill and
If you call her out she’s gonna go for the kill
Waste all of your time find your stash of bills
And cash out the whole damn till, she will (uh)

Go away for awhile then she’ll
Make you fall for her all over again with a smile
Claim to love you though she’ll be in denial but
I can show you, man we kept the file

[Hook]
Oh here she comes
Watch out boy she’ll chew you up
Oh here she comes
She’s a maneater tell her mans keep her
Oh here she comes
You can have all of her mess
Oh here she comes
You can’t read her hope you delete her

[Instrumental break]

[Hook]
Oh here she comes
Watch out boy she’ll chew you up
Oh here she comes
She’s a maneater tell her mans keep her
Oh here she comes
You can have all of her mess
Oh here she comes
You can’t read her hope you delete her
[Hook]
Oh here she comes
Watch out boy she’ll chew you up
Oh here she comes
She’s a maneater tell her mans keep her
Oh here she comes
You can have all of her mess
Oh here she comes
You can’t read her hope you delete her

About

Genius Annotation

Part of the idea of Waterfalls is to be an homage to artists and songs I loved. The original “Maneater” by Hall & Oates is incredibly creative and has an intoxicating bounce to it. At the same time, it’s also grimy.

Before I started my junior year of college, I went back to my hometown and hung out with some old friends. We were out on a boat and one of my buddies came to the boat fresh from a breakup with his longtime girlfriend.

For whatever reason, he came to mind when I wrote this song. I imagined the situation where he got together with a girl that I knew of that was bad news. I spent an entire Wednesday writing this song. It was fun to make and is the most tongue-in-cheek song I have made.
