Angry Again Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The more of you that I inspect
The more of me I see reflect
The more I try to read your lips
The more the mask you're wearing rips
But when I seek out your voice
My ears are overcome with noise
You show and tell with greatest ease
Raving impossibilities

[Chorus]
Engaged in crime I grasp my throat
Enraged my mind starts to smoke
Enforce a mental overload
Angry again, angry again, angry

[Verse 2]
And when the story takes a twist
It folds like a contortionist
Slight of hand and quick exchange
The old tricks have been rearranged

[Chorus]
Engaged in crime I grasp my throat
Enraged my mind starts to smoke
Enforce a mental overload
Angry again, angry again, angry
[Bridge]
The searing of the sinew
My body fights for air
The ripping of the tissue
My lungs begin to tear
Gravity's got my bones
It pulls my flesh away
The steam finally dissipates
I make out my sweaty face

[Instrumental Break]

[Verse 3]
Association that I choose
Game I inevitably lose
Governed by laws set up by me
Fracture its jaw to let me be
A cut-out cardboard condo maze
Filled with an insubordinate race
Irrational youths stop to stare
As music rubber hosed the air

[Chorus]
Engaged in crime I grasp my throat
Enraged my mind starts to smoke
Enforce a mental overload
Angry again, angry again, angry again, and again and again, again
[Outro]
Engaged in crime I grasp my throat
Enraged my mind starts to smoke
Enforce a mental overload
Angry again, angry again, angry

About

Genius Annotation

This was originally written for the 1993 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Last Action Hero and was later released on the Hidden Treasures compilation album along with a couple of other Megadeth songs from movie soundtracks.

The song went to #18 on the US Rock Chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award for best metal performance in 1993, but lost to Ozzy Osbourne’s “I Don’t Want To Change the World”.

I had written the music in one day. The lyrics I wrote while half asleep to The Clash’s ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go Now’ melody and it is about [drummer] Nick Menza lying to us saying that he got maced by some French people outside of a McDonald’s in Paris. That night I made a big speech about how brave he is for playing after being maced. It turned out later that night our security guard came up to me at the hotel after the show and said that they had lied and that they got maced in the red light district trying to get booze and other ‘stuff’.

What did Megadeth say about "Angry Again"?
Genius Answer

Dave Mustaine said:

“I wrote ‘Angry Again’ right after I got out of a treatment center in Arizona. They had done one of those happy little 1990s interventions where everybody who’s not loaded gets to point the finger at everyone who is. And the day I got out of rehab, they threw me into a studio in Phoenix where I wrote ‘Angry Again’ for the movie The Last Action Hero.”
