Genius Annotation

Cliff Burton was a fan of classical music, so it’s not a stretch that his signature bass solo “(Anesthesia)—Pulling Teeth” can somehow be translated to an orchestral instrument. SFS bassist Scott Pingel, who has been a Metallica fan since his teenage years, decided to pay tribute to the late bassist once his orchestra planned to do another S&M concert. After getting approved by his higher-ups and purchasing a special electric double bass to properly employ all the effect pedals, Pingel showed his musical idea to the band, and they were impressed, to the point that Lars Ulrich decided to join in with his drumming to ensure it very close to the original.
