Amelia Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The friends you should've kept around
The friends you shoulda lost
The boys you knew would break your heart
The good one you forgot
The nights you shoulda stayed at home
And chilled out with your mum
Lookin' back, I wish I had someone

[Chorus]
To send a message to that girl when she ain't got nobody else
Your mistakes, heartbreaks
Only make you stronger anyway
And when you're older, you'll see life will pass you by
So just enjoy the ride, don't cry
Everything is gonna be just fine

[Verse 2]
The summers you and your friends laughed until you nearly cried
And the one where you all grew up, went livin' different lives
The necklace that your dad gave you the night you turned sixteen
Lookin' back, I realize what it means (Oh-oh)

[Chorus]
To send a message to that girl when she ain't got nobody else
Your mistakes, heartbreaks
Only make you stronger anyway
And when you're older, you'll see life will pass you by
So just enjoy the ride, don't cry
Everything is gonna be just fine
[Bridge]
Amelia, here we are
Amelia, everything is gonna be just fine

[Chorus]
To send a message to that girl when she ain't got nobody else
Your mistakes, heartbreaks (Heartbreaks)
Only make you stronger anyway
And when you're older, you'll see life will pass you by
So just enjoy the ride, don't cry
Everything is gonna be just fine

What did Mimi Webb say about "Amelia"?
Genius Answer

I wanted to have a song where I could listen to it and feel like I could relate to it as a young girl at school—something that would help guide me and make me feel less alone. I’ve been through so much realisation and growth over the last year, so I felt like it was the right time to jump in and write it. This song is a message to my younger self, that everything does get better in the end, and I think it’s a message that young fans can really relate to. I think people will really appreciate and respect that message.
