Flower Lyrics
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
[Verse 1]
Old Miss Lucy's dead and gone
Left me here to weep and moan
[Refrain]

Old Miss Lucy's dead and gone
Left me here to weep and moan
[Refrain]
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground
Green Sally up, Green Sally down
Last done squat gotta tear the ground

About
Moby’s “Flower” was originally released as a b-side to the single “Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?” from the album Play (1999).
Like a number of the songs on Play, “Flower” features an electro-blues arrangement with the vocal hook supplied by a sample found on Sounds of the South, a compilation of Alan Lomax’s midcentury field recordings of African American folksongs. (In this case: “Green Sally Up” as performed by Mattie Garder, Mary Gardner, and Jesse Lee Pratcher.)
The song was featured in the opening credits to the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) and appeared on its soundtrack. A year later, Moby included it on the compilation Play: The B-Sides.
Nearly a decade and a half after its release, “Flower” became one of Moby’s biggest singles when it went viral as a component to a Crossfit exercise.
