“heartbreak in the hamptons” is a track about getting over a break up by spending money to cover the heartache. The fifth track on the EP, hell is a teenage girl, was confirmed in a Tweet posted on January 26, 2023. Barrett later confirmed it’s track placement on the EP on a pre-save link. Barrett teased lyrics from the track on Twitter. The Hamptons is a prestige residency in eastern Long Island, New York.
On Barrett’s AMP show, Heartbreak Hotline, she said that the track was inspired by her first time at a strip club. She explains how she had a deep conversation with a female stripper at the club, and went on to say “That girl basically inspired the idea of this song.”
