“The Beach” is the B-side to and remixed version of the single, “Blue Monday”. It re-cycles the loops used within it, and offers new instrumental parts that add to a variety of sounds different from the original.

As for the background vocals, it’s Bernard Sumner singing through a vocoder, which can be heard in the original behind the lead vocals he was doing. Like “Blue Monday”, the lyrics used with the vocoder are hidden away and used more as a background than anything else.
