This is a very personal record. I painted the idea of this woman named Keisha, but Keisha is the epitome of everyone that I’ve been in love with.
But it definitely touches on my marriage quite a bit. There’s aline in there like “my under dream lover.” Everybody knows Mariah had a record called “Dream Lover.”
I always call Mariah my dream girl– I had a couple of dream girls, but that’s the one I got the opportunity to marry.
When I heard that Christopher Williams sample of “I’m Dreamin'.” Sometimes you be so caught up in your fantasy it’s just leave the fuck alone, I want to be in the moment.
I freestyled the whole first verse. I just went into the booth and it came out.
Cannon said a lot of times that Mariah Carey was his Dream Girl. In many interviews (even before they met each other) he shared his thoughts of her:
