The song talks about the issues that plague Chicago, such as gun violence , robberies, incarceration, unsafe streets, as well as other major issues.
Nick compares the issues faced by the city to a war zone. The United States went to war with Iraq in 2003, leaving many areas torn apart and subject to violence by extremist groups in order to get their objects for world domination fulfilled. On a smaller scale, local Gangs try to control territory and resort to many different ruthless tactics in order to gain power and authority in a certain area, leaving the people of those affected communities in fear of what will happen.
