New Friend Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Mind my own business, I'm on my journey
And I have enough old friends to keep me company
But you say "Hey what's up, you want to hook up?
You wanna hang out with me?
Kick back, relax, feel happy and lazy"

You're sent to me one time
You come to me two times
Why me? Three times
Well abracadabra now I've got a new friend

[Chorus]
Let me introduce you to my new friend
Whoa, I got a new friend
Let me introduce you to my new friend
Whoa, I got a new friend

Mind my own business, I'm on my journey

[Verse 2]
I against I on my journey
Happily interrupted extremes are extreme
So with my brand new friend we touch the boundaries
Like a little kitty's whiskers, cautiously
Experimental expression downward looks
You come sniff around, I'm not sure what to do
But like a big explosion, magically
Look at me I think I might have found a new friend

[Chorus][x2]
Let me introduce you to my new friend
Whoa, I got a new friend
Let me introduce you to my new friend
Whoa, I got a new friend

[Verse 3]
Mind my own business
I'm on my journey
(Ah shit)
Mind my own business
I'm on my journey
(Ah shit)
You're sent to me one time
You come to me two times
Why me? Three times
Serial monogamy, I got a new friend

[Chorus]

[Outro]
Mind my own business, I'm on my journey
And I have enough old friends to keep me company
But you say "Hey what's up, you want to hook up?
You wanna hang out with me?
Kick back, relax, feel happy and lazy"
In my head
It's only in my head
In my head
It's only in my head

Genius Annotation

This track, “New Friend” was originally going to be on No Doubt’s 2001 album, Rock Steady. “New Friend” didn’t end up making the cut, and “Start the Fire” took the song’s place instead. However, the , rock ending, which consisted of the repetition of the angsty lyrics “it’s only in my head” ended up making it kn the Rock Steady album afterall, on a new song. It’s no surprise the track was called “In My Head”.
