My Everything Lyrics

[Verse 1: Adam Young]
When my hope is lost and my strength is gone
I run to You, and You alone
When I can't get up, and I can't go on
I run to You, and You alone

[Pre-Chorus: Adam Young]
Cause You're my light in the dark
And I sing with all of my heart

[Chorus 1: Adam Young]
Hallelujah, my almighty God divine
Hallelujah, I am Yours and You are mine
This is all I know how to say
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
You're my everything

[Verse 2: Adam Young]
When I'm plagued with pain, and filled with fear
I run to You, and You alone
When my days are few, and death is near
I run to You, and You alone

[Pre-Chorus: Adam Young]
Cause You're my light in the dark
And I sing with all of my heart
[Chorus 2: Adam Young]
Hallelujah, my almighty God divine
Hallelujah, I am Yours and You are mine
This is all I know how to say
Hallelujah, hallelujah

[Bridge: Adam Young]
When trouble comes and goes
And when the cold wind blows
I lift my hands up
I lift my hands up
When sorrow knocks me down
And You pick me off the ground
I lift my hands up
I lift my hands up
And I sing …

[Chorus 3: Adam Young]
Hallelujah, my almighty God divine
Hallelujah, I am Yours and You are mine
This is all I know how to say

[Outro: Adam Young]
Hallelujah, by the grace of God above
Hallelujah, I'll shine a light cause I am loved
This is all I know how to say
Hallelujah, hallelujah
This is all I know how to say
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
You're my everything
Oh-oh, You're my everything

About

Genius Annotation

The second single from his 5th studio album, Mobile Orchestra, Adam returns to his Christian roots in another powerful song about his faith, following the themes of similar previous works such as “Galaxies” and “You’re Not Alone”.

Adam described the song in the official newsletter:

“It’s a simple song about faith and how it leads us through the ups and downs of life, should we choose to follow where we are called.”

The music video, one of Adam walking through a forest in a day-and-night cycle, was shot in Los Angeles and it was composed of just 6 shots, placed accordingly with each section of the song.

What did Owl City say about "My Everything"?
Genius Answer

In an interview with Hear it First, Adam Young (a.k.a. Owl City) stated:

… it’s sort of the sister song to “You’re Not Alone” in that I wanted to write a song that in a very simple way embodies how amazed I am by who God is and how thankful I am for the things He does in my life. It’s songs like those that I hope at the end of the day can serve as encouragement who may feel spiritually weary or tired. Hopefully it might speak to people in ways they need to hear.”
