I Am The Walrus (Live) Lyrics

[Intro: Noel Gallagher, Liam Gallagher]
What's up?
What's up?
Don't matter if it's out of tune
Doesn't matter?
Doesn't matter if it's out of tune, 'cause your cool

[Verse 1: Liam Gallagher]
I am he as you are he
As you are me and we are all together
See how they run like pigs from a gun
See how they fly, I'm crying

[Verse 2: Liam Gallagher]
Sitting on a corn-flake
Waiting for the van to come
Corporation tee-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday
Man, you've been a naughty boy
You let your face grow long

[Chorus: Liam Gallagher]
I am the egg man
We are the egg men
I am the walrus
Goo goo g'joob
[Verse 3: Liam Gallagher]
Mister City policeman sitting
Pretty little policemen in a row
See how they fly like Lucy in the sky
See how they run, I'm crying
I'm crying, I'm crying, I'm crying

[Verse 4: Liam Gallagher]
Yellow-matter custard
Dripping from a dead dog's eye
Crabalocker fishwife, pornographic priestess
Man, you been a naughty girl
You let your knickers down

[Chorus: Liam Gallagher]
I am the egg man
We are the egg men
I am the walrus
Goo goo g'joob, g'goo goo g'joob

[Bridge: Liam Gallagher]
Sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun
If the sun don't come, you get a tan
From standing in the English rain

[Chorus: Liam Gallagher]
'Cause I am the egg man
We are the egg men
And I am the walrus
Goo goo g'joob, g'goo goo g'joob
[Verse 5: Liam Gallagher]
Expert, textpert, choking smokers
Don't you think the joker laughs at you?
See how they smile like pigs in a sty
See how they snied, I'm crying

[Verse 6: Liam Gallagher]
Semolina pilchards
Climbing up the Eiffel Tower
Elementary penguin singing Hare Krishna
Man, you should have seen them
Kicking Edgar Allan Poe

[Chorus: Liam Gallagher]
I am the egg man
We are the egg men
I am the walrus
Goo goo g'joob, g'goo goo g'joob
Goo goo g'joob, g'goo goo g'joob, g'goo

[Outro: Liam Gallagher]
Joob, joob, joo-bah
G'joob, joob, joo-bah
G'joob, joob, joo-bah
G'joob, joob, joo-bah
G'joob, joob, joo-bah

[Instrumental Outro]

About

Genius Annotation

“I Am The Walrus (Live)” was released as a B-side to “Cigarettes & Alcohol”. In 1998 it was included on the B-side compilation album The Masterplan.

This song was a steady part of Oasis' live performance in their early days before their debut album was released.

When Oasis played small venues and pubs, they were usually required to play for at least 30 minutes. However, at this point in time, they did not have enough material to play 30 minutes. So they decided to do a cover of this song (with an prolonged jam in the end) at the end of their sets to be able to hit the 30 minute mark, after which they would stop and collect their paycheck.

The song was also used as the final encore during most concerts of the 2008-09 “Dig Out Your Soul” tour.
