wrote this little diddly for Ariana Grande like 5 years ago?
Funny story, I was invited to her onesie pajama party through one of our mutual friends. this wasn’t even the first time i hung out with her… this time was actually more tame lol
so, during the party, there’s a point where i’m eating cookies, lookin awkward in my waaaaaay too tight Jack Frost onesie and Ariana and i are both in the kitchen. i think i asked her if she thought about dropping a Christmas song that year and she said, “it’s funny you ask cuz i’m actually working on a Christmas album right now, but i don’t know if I’ll finish all the songs in time.” the album she was talking about was “Christmas & Chill”.
i was still trying to finish my songwriting deal with Sony at the time, so quick thinking, I ask if there’s still time for me to submit a song for her project. she’s like, Hell yea! so, i just wanna get home from this party ASAP, so i can start working on this lol
i get home that night and make most of the beat until my ex told me come to bed. i finish the rest the next day, then write the lyrics. wasted like 4 days trying to find someone to sing it cuz at that time, i didn’t know how to sing. finally found some friends to help out and get a decent mix on it aaaaand… i email it.
i wait.
and wait.
and December rolls around when i find out, she’s dropping the album in 2 weeks :(
i don’t know if she even heard it but i feel like if she did, she DEFINITELY would have used it cuz it was better than half the songs that did end up on the album! to me & my compadres at least.
so i sat on this for until a month or so ago, when i had the idea to try it again. but a new beat… and this time just for me. so, i present to you…. Santa Come Thru!
