Mia Lyrics

[Intro]
Honey now, na, na, na, na, na

[Verse 1]
Hush a bye my baby, soft and new
Ooh, loveliness, gypsy dance in the rain
Hush a bye, my baby, what you do
Ooh, the baby cry
The wind she's calling your name

[Chorus]
(Mia)
Ooh (Mia) ooh (Mia)
Ooh (Mia) ooh (Mia)

[Verse 2]
Where you came from you ain't alone
Live and loved from the old jaw bone
Oh, don't you cry you're home sweet home
Rock a bye, sweet lady, gypsy blue
Ooh, the nightingale singing her song in the rain
Hush a bye sweet lady, soft and new
Ooh, don't you cry, the wind she's a-screaming your name

[Chorus]
(Mia)
Ooh (Mia) ooh (Mia)
Ooh (Mia) ooh
[Verse 3]
Come too soon that sunny day
You give your heart away
No divorcee, or reprise, yeah, yeah

[Chorus]
(Mia)
Ooh (Mia) ooh (Mia)
Ooh (Mia) ooh (Mia)
Ooh (Mia) ooh (Mia)
(Mia)

About

Genius Annotation

Mia was one of the last songs Steven Tyler wrote for Night in the Ruts and the only one he wrote entirely by himself. On the Walk This Way memoir from 1997 he reflects on the song: “It was a lullaby I wrote on the piano for my daughter, but the tolling bell notes at the end of the song and the end of the album sounded more like the death knell of Aerosmith for people who knew what was going on.”

By the time this song was recorded Joe Perry had already left the band and those tolling bell notes were the last heard from Aerosmith for three years.
