Why was the CD released without this song?

Merton’s No Roots EP was first released in February 2017, more than a year before the release of this song.

The EP was re-released in 2018, this time with “Lash Out” included on the track list (as track #2), after it had been released and begun to achieve some success. (The second edition of the EP also had a new version of “Hit the Ground Running.”)

Both versions of the EP (the “complete” one and the “Lash Out”-less one) were released on CD, so some copies have it and some don’t.
