Frank Lyrics

[Chorus]
Where's the white Ferrari?
I wanted a ride
Where's the white Ferrari?
I wanted a ride
I wanted to ride with yo

[Post-Chorus]
All summer long
Could've kissed you
All summer long
If you let me
All summer long
Ooh

[Verse 1]
Well you've been staying up too late
Another bottle down the sink
I've been staying up too late
I almost hear you saying, babe

[Pre-Chorus]
I want you back
I want it bad
I have been crying too long to want it back
Hurts so bad
I want it bad
[Chorus]
Where's the white Ferrari?
This was more than a test drive
Whеre's the white Fеrrari?
And how's the view from the backseat
Or did she sit shotgun?

[Post-Chorus]
All summer long
Could've sat there
All summer long
Parked by the soccer field
All summer long
Ooh

[Verse 2]
It's crowded in the swimming pool
We act just like we're passing notes

Something changes in our faces
Every fuckin' body knows

[Pre-Chorus]
We want it bad
I want it bad
I won't speak for you but
I want it bad
Hurts so bad
I want it bad
[Chorus]
He's got a white Mercedes
It isn't the same, no

But he's got a white Mercedes
He's gonna give me a ride
Would've picked you every time

[Post-Chorus]
All summer long
All summer long
If you let me
All summer long
Ooh

[Outro]
All summer long
If you let me
All summer long
Ooh

Genius Annotation

Alix Page reflects on a lost love on “Frank,” alternating between the past and present to give a full picture of the relationship. The track is named for its inspiration, Californian R&B artist Frank Ocean.

Swirling synths in the track are contrasted with acoustic guitar, creating a soft yet conflicted sound. These aspects, along with the the tying together of a car and a past relationship reflect Ocean’s 2016 song “White Ferrari.”

“Frank” was first announced in an Instagram post by Page on August 19, 2020, six days prior to the track’s release.

Genius Answer

I think in some ways social media has trained us to think that there are always other options out there, and that leaves a lot of people feeling unsatisfied, wondering if there’s someone they could be happier with out there. I don’t think human beings were ever supposed to see this much of so many people’s lives every day; it can’t be good for us.

‘Frank’ is weird, because the first time that lyric comes up, it’s after I say, ‘I almost hear you saying: Babe I want it back,’ as if the other person is saying it to me. I kept having dreams that the person it’s about would call me in a mess, asking to try again. I kept going back and forth on if I really wanted the relationship back or if I just wanted the other person to regret ending it. I also think hindsight is 20/20 and a lot of times you don’t realize what you have until it’s gone.
