Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) Lyrics

[Verse 1: Amanda Seyfried]
Half past twelve
And I'm watching the late show in my flat all alone
How I hate to spend the evening on my own
Autumn winds
Blowing outside my window as I look around the room
And it makes me so depressed to see the gloom

[Pre-Chorus: Amanda Seyfried]
Is there a man out there?
Someone to hear my prayer

[Chorus: Amanda Seyfried, Ashley Lilley & Rachel McDowall]
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away?
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

[Verse 2: Amanda Seyfried]
Movie stars
Find the end of the rainbow with a fortune to win
It's so different from the world I'm living in
Tired of TV
I open the window and I gaze into the night
But there's nothing there to see, no one in sight
[Pre-Chorus: Amanda Seyfried]
Is there a man out there?
Someone to hear my prayer

[Chorus: Amanda Seyfried, Ashley Lilley & Rachel McDowall]
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away?
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away?
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

[Instrumental Break]

[Pre-Chorus: Amanda Seyfried]
Is there a man out there?
Someone to hear my prayer

[Chorus: Amanda Seyfried, Ashley Lilley & Rachel McDowall]
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away?
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

About

Genius Annotation

“Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” was the first single released from the soundtrack for the 2008 film version of Mamma Mia. Unlike the original stage version, Seyfried sings the complete song as a solo performance and also does the same in a music video to promote both the single and the movie. The song was originally sung by ABBA, from their Greatest Hits Vol. 2 album.
