Fake Believe Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Contemplation makes me sick
I'll pretend you don't exist
Don't condemn me, deal with it
Knowledge - I'm so bored of it
I swear ignorance is bliss
Stupidity is a gift
Now that I'm a solipsist
Your point of view changes shit

[Pre-Chorus]
The art of knowing is knowing what to ignore
I skip every single class in the school of thought
When you say there's an opinion I should explore
I'm bored, I'm bored, I'm so bored

[Chorus]
I've been living in the world of make-believe
It's always pretty waking up inside a dream
Honey, you can take your sad reality
Away from mе, away from me

When I'm living in the world of makе-believe
I only ever see the things I wanna see
Nothing on the planet ever gets to me
When I'm living in the world of fake believe
[Post-Chorus]
Let me live my fantasy
No, I only see the things I wanna see
Cause I'm living in the world of fake believe
I'm in love with apathy
Nothing on the planet ever gets to me
When I'm living in the world of fake believe

[Verse 2]
Make bigotry great again
Let me stage a coup de main
I don't want to use my brain
I just want to complain

Build a wall and make 'em pay
I'm a saint because I pray
Jesus died for me to say
"You're not human, you're gay"

[Pre-Chorus]
The art of knowing is knowing what to ignore
I skip every single class in the school of thought
When you say there's an opinion I should explore
I'm bored, I'm bored, I'm so bored

[Chorus]
I've been living in the world of make-believe
It's always pretty waking up inside a dream
Honey, you can take your sad reality
Away from me, away from me
When I'm living in the world of make-believe
I only ever see the things I wanna see
Nothing on the planet ever gets to me
When I'm living in the world of fake believe
[Post-Chorus]
Let me live my fantasy
No, I only see the things I wanna see
Cause I'm living in the world of fake believe
I'm in love with apathy
Nothing on the planet ever gets to me
When I'm living in the world of fake believe

[Bridge]
Your personal suppression is the root of your aggression
But there is no place in heaven for disciples of oppression
If heaven's where you're headed, then I'll burn my invitation
Because my idea of hell is singing in your congregation

Genius Annotation

“Fake Believe” is about escaping reality when everything gets too overwhelming. It has a sound similar to “You Need To Calm Down” by Taylor Swift, which is also a song about social issues.

What did Baby Queen say about "Fake Believe"?
Genius Answer

I find it really hard to speak about social issues online. The best way for me to say something is through my songs. I wrote this last year when so many Black Lives Matter protests were happening and Donald Trump was in power and I felt really fucking powerless about what was happening in the world. The way that I deal with things is through satire, so this song is written from the perspective of someone who would go to a BLM march with an ‘All Lives Matter’ sign, or someone who would go to a Pride march and say, ‘You’re going to hell because you’re gay.’ I want to laugh at them because being laughed at is what they would like the least.
