Stratosphere Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Turn me around
Collision course with the sun
Far above the ground
Halfway to oblivion

[Chorus]
In the stratosphere
There's nowhere to go from here
In the stratosphere
I'll be back home another year

[Verse 2]
High as the moon
Earth below to comfort me
Needle to the spoon
Strike a match and let it be

[Chorus]
In the stratosphere
There's nowhere to go from here
In the stratosphere
Somewhere I can disappear

In the stratosphere
There's nowhere to go from here
In the stratosphere
Be back home another year

Genius Annotation

“Stratosphere” is one of Hyperspace’s darker, gloomier tracks. Beck wrote this song about his friend who had died of a heroin overdose in 2000.

This is the only song on Hyperspace that Beck had produced alone. He well-fittingly features Coldplay frontman Chris Martin on backup vocals.
