I Was Alive Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Not gonna be on my deathbed
Knowing I'll be buried in regret
Think about the things I never did
While I'm taking my last breath
No need to fear the end
'Cause I'll know I didn't just live

[Chorus]
When I die, I’ll know I didn’t just live
I was alive, I’ll know I didn’t just live
I was alive, live

[Verse 2]
Not gonna be on my deathbed
Wondering why I was always scared
To say those words I never said
To the ones I loved while I was there

[Chorus]
When I die, I’ll know I didn’t just live
I was alive, I’ll know I didn’t just live
I was a person that you were proud of
Took chances, didn't doubt 'em
No need to fear the end
'Cause I'll know I didn't just live
I was alive, live
[Bridge]
No need to fear the end
'Cause I'll know I didn't just live
No need to fear the end
'Cause I'll know I didn't just live
No need to fear the end
'Cause I'll know I didn't just live
No need to fear the end
'Cause I'll know I didn't just live

[Chorus]
When I die, I’ll know I didn’t just live
I was alive, I’ll know I didn’t just live
I was a person that you were proud of
Took chances, didn't doubt 'em
No need to fear the end
'Cause I'll know I didn't just live
I was alive, live

[Outro]
I was alive, live, live
I was alive, live

Genius Answer

Caleb Shomo:

This was inspired by the last conversation I had with my late grandfather. He talked about how he lived a life that he was happy with, and he was ready to go. He was one of the most amazing and inspiring people in my life, and this song is—as many of these songs are—me manifesting the best version of myself that I can possibly be for the rest of my life.
