Seasons Lyrics
One, two, three
[Chorus: Bebe Rexha]
I lie awake inside a dream
And I run, run, run away from me
The seasons change right under my feet
I'm still the same, same, same, same old me
Aha
[Verse 1: Bebe Rexha, Both]
And everyone around me
Oh, yeah, they seem so grounded
But I can't seem to catch myself
My heart starts beatin' loudly
I know that I'm surrounded
But I'm too proud to ask for help
[Chorus: Both]
I lie awake inside a dream
And I run, run, run away from me
The seasons change right under my feet
I'm still the same, same, same, same old me
[Post-Chorus: Bebe Rexha, Dolly Parton]
Aha (Aha)
Ooh-ooh (Ooh-ooh)
My mirror is a liar
Inside, I'm still a child
Who's tryin' to find her way back home
How come nobody warns us
About what's coming for us
That you will live and die alone
[Chorus: Both]
I lie awake inside a dream
And I run, run, run away from me
The seasons change right under my feet
I'm still the same, same, same, same old me
[Post-Chorus: Bebe Rexha, Dolly Parton]
Aha (Aha, oh)
[Bridge: Bebe Rexha, Dolly Parton & Both]
The seasons changin' now
The leaves are turnin' brown
The snow is fallin' down (The snow is fallin')
The sun is comin' out (The seasons changin')
I feel it all now (I feel it)
I feel it all now (I feel it)
I feel it, I feel it, I
I lie awake inside a dream
And I run, run, run away from me
The seasons change right under my feet
I'm still the same, same, same, same old me
[Post-Chorus: Bebe Rexha, Dolly Parton]
Aha (Hm-hm)
Ooh-ooh (Ooh-ooh)
Aha (Aha)
Ooh-ooh (Mm, ooh-ooh)
About
“Seasons” is the final track of Bebe Rexha’s third studio album, Bebe. The track was largely inspired by Fleetwood Mac and their song “Landslide”.
In verse two, written by Rexha but sung by Parton, Bebe uses imagery as a metaphor to reinforce her idea of not changing with time as she feels that she is still the same person she was over 20 years ago.
This may also be a reference to a song she was inspired by in the creation of ‘Seasons,’ which is the popular Fleetwood Mac ballad ‘Landslide’:
“Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?”
I was really inspired by Fleetwood Mac, and they have a song called ‘Landslide’… ’Landslide’ is one of the greatest songs of all time, but I just loved how it talked about change. And I was like, ‘I want to write my own version.’”

I was like, ‘Guys, I want to write a song about knowing that you need to change, but you’re not changing,’” — Rexha told Rolling Stone about writing this lyric.
