Smoke Lyrics

[Intro]
See, on me

[Verse 1]
Balance in my hair, I'm pretty as fuck, ay, ay
Choosing what you wear and getting this far

Tricking on my own time, what is it worth?
Got throat on my neck, neck, shatter your first
I'm waiting for the smoke to clear

[Refrain]
It's a long time, long time
See...
See...
Long time...
(Changing always)

[Verse 2]
Pretty woke, I'm pretty as fuck
Trick coat
Choosing what you wear and getting this far
Waiting for the smoke to clear

[Refrain]
It's a long time, long time
See the Sun...
See...
Long time...
[Outro]
The Sun comes in, my heart fulfills within
The Sun comes in, my heart fulfills within
The Sun comes in, my heart fulfills within
The Sun comes in, my heart fulfills within
The Sun comes in, my heart fulfills within
The Sun comes in, my heart fulfills within
The Sun comes in, my heart fulfills within (My heart and my soul)
The Sun comes in, my heart fulfills within

What did Blood Orange say about "Smoke"?
Genius Answer

For an interview with Pitchfork in which he spoke about each song on Negro Swan, Dev Hynes provided insight into the closing track:

Pitchfork: This final track has a more hopeful bent to it lyrically, especially in the refrain, “The sun comes in/My heart fulfills within.” Was it important for you to end the album on that note?.

Dev Hynes: Yeah. Halfway through working on that song I realized it was the last song on the album. I booked a studio, and they just had an acoustic guitar, so that’s why that song is just that. That song is one of my favorites from the album. It has complexity to it but it’s also very simple. I really love that. I very rarely have songs that can straight-up be played on one instrument and just sung, and you get the idea of the song. But this is one of them, and I’m stoked on that fact.
