Blacklist Lyrics

[Intro]
So just like that, you're fucking dead and gone
You can only wear a crown of thorns for so long
We built an empire and you took the throne
But you built it from bayonets and sat there alone

[Verse 1]
So just like that, you're fucking dead and gone
You can only wear a crown of thorns for so long

We built an empire and you took the throne
But you built it from bayonets and sat there alone

I hope your queen was worth it
Do you still serve her on your knees?
'Cause you sat when the world was at your feet
Just slept while we lived the dream

[Pre-Chorus]
You won't miss the water till the river runs dry
You won't miss the sunset till it burns out the sky
You won't miss what you have till it's finally lost
But you don't miss a bastard when you're bearing his fucking cross

[Chorus]
Blacklist
Nothing but a blacklist
With friends like you, there's no need for enemies
With friends like you, there's no need for anything

Blacklist, you're nothing but a blacklist
[Verse 2]
Well, truth be told, I'm a little bit gutted
I mean, you were always a prick, but we still seemed to love you
We started this together, and it should've stuck
But there's no room for a useless, miserable fuck

Well, I know I was a cunt in the final days
It just filled me with venom, filled me with rage
To see someone not give a shit
Despite of all of this

[Bridge]
I won't see you around, I couldn't give a fuck
I'd rather slit my wrists than keep in touch
You're on my blacklist, and there's nothing left to say
We're finished breaking our bones, dragging dead fucking weight
I won't see you around, I couldn't give a fuck
I'd rather slit my wrists than keep in touch
Blacklist, blacklist

[Chorus]
Blacklist
Nothing but a blacklist
With friends like you, there's no need for enemies
With friends like you, there's no need for anything
Blacklist, you're nothing but a blacklist
[Guitar Solo]

[Outro]
I won't see you around, I couldn't give a fuck
I'd rather slit my wrists than keep in touch
You're on my blacklist, and there's nothing left to say
We're finished breaking our bones, dragging dead fucking weight
I won't see you around, I couldn't give a fuck
I'd rather slit my wrists than keep in touch
You're on my blacklist, and there's nothing left to say
We're finished breaking our bones, dragging dead fucking weight

About

Genius Annotation

“Blacklist” is the ninth track on Bring Me The Horizon’s third album, There Is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret.

“Blacklist” was aimed at former band member Curtis Ward who was fired during the touring cycle of Suicide Season. According to the band, Curtis had little input on the previous album, picked fights with everyone on stage and in the crowd, and only saw BMTH monetary gain.

Eventually, we all got drunk one night, and then shit hit the fan. We all had a big argument and, the next day, us all got together and had a talk and decided to kick him out. And the thing is he didn’t even cry; he just sat there and took it because he didn’t care. Like we were saying, he didn’t give a fuck, his heart weren’t in it so… I guess, in the end, we did him a favour. He wanted to go. He wanted to be with his girlfriend and just… “why don’t you just go and fucking do it, just do it, see ya later”.
Matt Nicholls

In 2014, the band severed tensions with Curtis and invited him on stage to play “Pray For Plagues” at both the Underworld and the Wembley Arena.
