You know that I'd die for, I'd cry for
You know that I'd die for you
You know that I'd breathe for, I'd bleed for
You know that I'd breathe for you
Let me see my halo, even though it's painful
I'm prepared to lose
You know that I'd die for, I'd cry for
You know that I'd die for you
[Verse 1]
I keep holding my breath for a miracle
Hoping the hole in my heart would've healed somehow
Feeling so fucking close to the edge right now
You know you're everything I hate, wish I could escape
But you know I would die for you
[Chorus]
You know that I'd die for, I'd cry for
You know that I'd die for you
You know that I'd breathe for, I'd bleed for
You know that I'd breathe for you
Let me see my halo, even though it's painful
I'm prepared to lose
You know that I'd die for, I'd cry for
You know that I'd die for you
'Cause I've died inside a thousand times
But still I'd kill myself for you
'Cause the truth of it, you could slit my wrists
And I'd write your name in a heart with the haemorrhage
Got me so fucking close to the edge right now
You know it's you I need to kick, you make me feel like shit
And I don't wanna die for you (Die for you)
[Chorus]
You know that I'd die for, I'd cry for
You know that I'd die for you
You know that I'd breathe for, I'd bleed for
You know that I'd breathe for you
Let me see my halo, even though it's painful
I'm prepared to lose
You know that I'd die for, I'd cry for
You know that I'd die for you
[Bridge]
This isn't love, this is a car crash
This isn't love, this is a bloodbath
This isn't love, this is a sentence
It's a bullet in the head (It's a bullet in the head)
This isn't love, this is a car crash
This isn't love, this is a bloodbath
This isn't love, this is a sentence
It's a bullet in the head
So pull the trigger
About
“DiE4u” is the first single released from the follow-up EP to POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR which released in October 30, 2020.
The song blends influences of emo, pop, rock and contemporary music to create a style described by front-man Oli Sykes as “future emo.” Lyrically, the song deals with addiction from the perspective of a toxic relationship.
It’s kinda like tackling the song as if this unhealthy obsession that I have is a relationship, and almost like a mistress really. […]
[When you’re in dealing with an addiction] it’s like you’re having an affair for other people and stuff, cause you’re doing this thing behind everyone’s back, it’s a secret, and it is like you’re cheating on people or betraying people and stuff. I obviously never saw it in that way- I always just though “I’m just harming myself, I’m not harming other people” and I mean, I knew I was harming people but I didn’t quite the level of how much it can fuck up people’s trust and stuff like that.
Sykes himself has experienced drug addiction in the past, saying that it “took away who he was” and nearly resulted in him ending his own life. Sykes later found relief after attending rehab sessions, though disagrees with some of the principles used in his recovery.
In an interview with CD 92.2, a local alternative rock station based in Columbus, Ohio, Sykes delved further into the themes of addiction and recovery that the song explores. Sykes stated that the result of COVID-19 induced isolation forced him to deal with several aspects of himself that he thought he had healed from, saying:
It spiraled out of control, and I did what I did when those problems used to be more at the forefront. I started using again, abusing shit…for me, I had to sort all that shit out in lockdown. I couldn’t go back into the world the way I was…DiE4U is all about the realization where I went, ‘Fuck, I need to cut this part of me off and say ‘This is not happening anymore’, because it was very murky before, back when I was like ‘Oh, I don’t abuse drugs, but I’ll still have a drink and I’ll still have a smoke’, or whatever and it was just, I was always leaving that door open and I needed to shut it.
The track was officially announced on September 2, 2021, but frontman Oli Sykes teased a master of the track on TikTok days prior, as well as the band having posted photos from the set of the music video to their social media.

I’m tackling the song as if this unhealthy obsession I have is a relationship – almost like a mistress. I’ve learned over the past year while I’ve been recovering that when you’re in it, addiction is like you’re having an affair. You’re doing this thing behind everyone’s back, it’s a secret and it feels like you’re cheating and betraying people. I never saw it in that way. I just thought I was harming myself and not other people. I didn’t realise how much it can fuck up people’s trust. This song is triumphant for me in a way because it’s me finally accepting that I’m not someone who can drink alcohol, smoke weed or do any of these things because I just have a problem with it and it always goes down the same road. That’s not something that I’ve been able to admit to myself. This song is a defiant stamp of me saying, ‘No, I’m making a choice now. I can’t keep doing this for the rest of my life because it’s only going to end up one way.
Yes, Bring Me The Horizon uploaded a Youtube Short teaser for the music video associated with this song.
