What doesn't kill you makes you wish you were dead
Got a hole in my soul growing deeper and deeper, and I can't take
One more moment of this silence, the loneliness is haunting me
And the weight of the world's getting harder to hold up
[Pre-Chorus]
It comes in waves, I close my eyes
Hold my breath and let it bury me
I'm not okay and it's not alright
Won't you drag the lake and bring me home again?
[Chorus]
Who will fix me now? Dive in when I'm down?
Save me from myself, don't let me drown
Who will make me fight? Drag me out alive?
Save me from myself, don't let me drown
[Verse 2]
What doesn't destroy you, leaves you broken instead
Got a hole in my soul growing deeper and deeper, and I can't take
One more moment of this silence, the loneliness is haunting me
And the weight of the world's getting harder to hold up
[Pre-Chorus]
It comes in waves, I close my eyes
Hold my breath and let it bury me
I'm not okay and it's not alright
Won't you drag the lake and bring me home again?
Who will fix me now? Dive in when I'm down?
Save me from myself, don't let me drown
Who will make me fight? Drag me out alive?
Save me from myself, don't let me drown
[Bridge]
'Cause you know that I can't do this on my own
'Cause you know that I can't do this on my own
'Cause you know that I can't do this on my own
('Cause you know that I can't do this on my)
[Outro]
Who will fix me now?
Who will fix me now?
Who will fix me now? Dive in when I'm down?
Save me from myself, don't let me drown
About
Ahead of their massive headlining show at Wembley Arena in December 2014, BMTH set out to write a new style of song for an arena sound. Vocalist Oli commented on the difference in his songwriting approach for such a show in an interview with Gigwise.
When we started this band, we were young and, I don’t want to say we hid behind the noise, but that’s just what you like when you’re a kid. As we got older, our taste in music changes, and we’re just trying to reflect that with what we do, rather than trying to write something we would’ve ten years ago.
The song is about the expectations in life that can grow too much to bear, and about someone that could take that weight off your shoulders and help you back up.
Leading up the release of “Drown,” vocalist Oli Sykes uploaded parts of the lyrics to his Instagram, giving fans a sneak peak of the lyrical content.
The cover art and music video of this song feature the band dressed up in the style of The Beatles, and the music video features them playing in a space similar to that of The Beatles' performance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Oliver Sykes told Digital Spy:
We wanted to write something worthy of the arena, it was a different process because we never think about the design of our music when we’re writing.
