sugar honey ice & tea Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Count down the thunder
I think we're too close for comfort
So no, don't rock the boat and don't calm the storm
God already gave you His answer
Blink, I'm sorry, it's over, the whistle's been blown, I
Think you got the wrong number, I'm breaking up
Wanna make a connection, can't get no reception
Leave a message after the tone

[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause it's got my head running 24/7
I don't know if I can figure it out
It's all messed up, only one thing I know for sure
We're so full of

[Chorus]
Sugar, honey, ice, and tea
Sugar, honey, ice, and tea
(Everybody's full of)
Sugar, honey, ice, and tea
Sugar, honey, ice, and tea

[Verse 2]
Don't move a muscle
No, we can't have a struggle
But the situation is in control
So play pretend that it's all good
You could tell the Messiah
His pants are on fire, I politely decline, I

I gotta go, I gotta stick my head in the sand
And block out all the sadness, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

[Instrumental Outro]

Genius Annotation

“sugar honey ice & tea,” arguably the album’s heaviest track, mainly talks about intolerance and so it doesn’t about love to a specific person. The track is still present on the album concept as it could be interpreted as the “Love to an opinion.”

This song kind of veers off the topic of love in terms of like personal stuff the most and it’s more talking about as a society and a world. And I guess people’s interpretation, however, one’s got a different idea what love is, everyone has quite strong morals and beliefs these days, which is brilliant, but I think sometimes people are a little intolerant that they think that only theirs is important. If you think that you should vote in and you tell everyone else the wrong for not voting but that same person might eat meat where that other thinks that you’re killing animals, “Why would I vote for any of these people if they’re all supportive of that stuff?” You know what I mean? And people are a little bit intolerant and a little bit like not understanding of other people’s beliefs and I’m where we want to push things forward and I think that’s what this song is about. […]

Genius Answer

One of the heavier, riffy songs. It’s got a metal-meets-britpop feel to it. It went through a few different variations, but we nailed it in the end. It’s quite fun and quirky, so I think it’ll be a good one to play live. The chorus is a weird falsetto thing that goes, “Sugar, honey, ice and tea.”
