Whiplash Lyrics

[Verse 1]
A baby moonlight hits the spotlight
I'm on my flight to take you away
I'm feeling so free
You're making me crazy
That's what you do, that's what you do
Let's go now

[Pre-Chorus]
Lickety split
A girl in a bit as she falls in a pit saying, "Hello, darling!"
Twisted insanity
Fallen humanity
All I want is some tranquility
Do you hear me?
Do you hear me?
Well, c'mon, boy

[Chorus]
Uh, c'mon and take me to the other side
I'm blown away when I look into your eyes
I'm so in love
I think I'm gonna crash and get whiplash, whiplash, whiplash
It's up to you
And I don't wanna give you clues
We're moving fast
I think we got enough to lose
So, don't look back
Or else we're gonna crash and get whiplash, whiplash, whiplash
[Verse 2]
Like the first kiss with a sweet list
Of some love songs, oh yеah (So sexy, life is sassy, sassy, sassy)
And with this melody falling ovеr me
It makes me weak, so damn weak
So, let's go now

[Pre-Chorus]
Lickety split
A girl in a bit as she falls in a pit saying, "Hello, darling!"
Twisted insanity
Fallen humanity
All I want is some tranquility
Do you hear me?
Do you hear me?
Well, c'mon, boy

[Chorus]
Uh, c'mon and take me to the other side
I'm blown away when I look into your eyes
I'm so in love
I think I'm gonna crash and get whiplash, whiplash, whiplash
It's up to you
And I don't wanna give you clues
We're moving fast
I think we got enough to lose
So, don't look back
Or else we're gonna crash and get whiplash, whiplash, whiplash
[Interlude]
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la (la-la) la-la-la (Oh, yeah)
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la (la-la) la-la-la
So, let's go now

[Chorus]
Uh, c'mon and take me to the other side
I'm blown away when I look into your eyes
I'm so in love
I think I'm gonna crash and get whiplash, whiplash, whiplash
It's up to you
And I don't wanna give you clues
We're moving fast
I think we got enough to lose
So, don't look back
Or else we're gonna crash and get whiplash, whiplash, whiplash

[Outro]
(Whiplash...)

Genius Annotation

When Britney Spears started recording her album Circus, she contacted Coco Morier to write songs with her. When the two were in the studio, they worked on song with Greg Kurstin. Among these songs were “Rock Me In” and “Whiplash”. “Rock Me In” was included on the final tracklist of Circus, however “Whiplash” was not.

On April 11, 2011, it was reported that “Whiplash” would be recorded by Selena Gomez & the Scene for their third studio album When the Sun Goes Down. The band’s lead singer Selena Gomez is a Britney fan, and after Greg played Selena the song for the first time, she “fell in love with it”.

Although Selena Gomez & the Scene released their version of the song, Britney’s own demo of the song has yet to leak online. Coco talked about Britney’s version in a 2012 interview with Vertigo Shtick, stating:

“I’ll never ever ever give [Britney’s version] up. But a lot of people write me and ask me for all these kinds of things, instrumentals, stuff like that… Man, I can’t give that stuff out! So yes, there is, but don’t think it’ll see the light of day”

She also said:

“Britney actually wrote [the song’s] pre-chorus with Greg and she just kind of freestyled it, like wrote it in just as fast as you can even say it. And we were astonished because I thought it was so cool, and it just kind of came out of her. The flow was really cool, in kind of a weird, twisted way”
