Dancing in the Spirit Lyrics

[Intro]
Come on
Put those hands together
It's time to dance

[Chorus]
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
You should praise Him
Praise Him till you feel it
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
You should praise Him
Praise Him till you feel it
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
You should praise Him
Praise Him till you feel it
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
You should praise Him
Praise Him till you feel it

[Verse]
When I think of the Lord has done
Look at where He has brought me from
I can hardly hold my peace
And I sure can't keep my seat
You better give me some room to run
Just as sure as the anointing comes
[Chorus]
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
You should praise Him
Praise Him till you feel it
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
You should praise Him
Praise Him till you feel it
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
You should praise Him
Praise Him till you feel it
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
You should praise Him
Praise Him till you feel it

[Verse]
Oh, when I think of the Lord has done
Look at where He has brought me from
I can hardly hold my peace
And I sure can't keep my seat
You better give me some room to run
Just as sure as the anointing comes
[Chorus]
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
You should praise Him
Praise Him till you feel it
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
You should praise Him
Praise Him till you feel it
I'll be
Dancing in the spirit
I'll be
Praise Him till you feel it
Keep on
Dancing in the spirit
Don't stop
Praise Him till you feel it

[Post-Chorus]
When I think of the goodness of Jesus
And all that He has done for me
My soul cries out, "Hallelujah"
Thank You for saving me

[Bridge 1]
Gotta keep dancing
Said, I gotta keep
Gotta keep dancing
Said, I gotta keep
Gotta keep dancing
Said, I gotta keep
Gotta keep dancing
Oh, Lord
Gotta keep dancing
You've been too good
Gotta keep dancing
And You've been too kind
Gotta keep dancing
I'm so glad about it
Gotta keep dancing
You're a Friend of mine
Gotta keep dancing
Jesus is a friend of mine
Gotta keep dancing
Jesus is a friend of mine
[?]
Gotta keep dancing
The joy of the Lord
Gotta keep dancing
Said the joy of the Lord is my strength
Gotta keep dancing
And it's just like fire
Gotta keep dancing
And it's just like
Gotta keep dancing
Fire
[Bridge 2]
Don't stop dancing
Don't stop dancing
Don't stop dancing
Don't stop dancing
Don't stop dancing
Don't stop
Don't stop dancing

Genius Annotation

This song, “DANCING IN THE SPIRIT” was composed by Grammy Award-winning songwriter, Lady Peachena, as she was flying on an airplane to Miami Beach, Florida, in August 1987, to the Gospel Music Workshop’s Annual Convention. Looking out over the multitude of flashing city lights she created this awesome hit song. Famed Gospel group, The Winans, heard a recording of her singing the song that was brought to them by Keith Laws, and sent her a message requesting to record the song. Lady Peachena happily granted them permission to record it. Ron Winans recorded this song live with his choir, Family & Friends Choir, with his brother, Marvin Winans, singing the lead, the Spring of 1988, and “DANCING IN THE SPIRIT,” became an instant smash hit. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award in February 1989, and the entire Winans' Family sang this song live on the Grammy Award TV Show on CBS TV in 1989.
In 2017, Cece Winans recorded “DANCING IN THE SPIRIT” (track 8) on her “LET THEM FALL IN LOVE” CD, and her album won a Grammy Award at the Grammy’s in 2018.
