Thoughts Lyrics

[Chorus]
Drivin' 'round in Hollywood, I can only think 'bout you
Everlasting pain and it weighs on my body, it's you
Did I lose it all? Did I fuck it up?
Are my friends really friends now or are they far gone?
On the drugs at a bar, took 'em all
Can't stop thinking 'bout you

[Verse 1]
Fucked up, I just wanna break glass
Phone calls, I just wanna talk back
Yeah, big attitude, just like a big stack
Braindead for days, am I gonna relapse? Yeah

[Pre-Chorus]
I don't wanna talk
I don't wanna smile, no, no
Got a couple problems
I don't wanna compromise, no, no (Yeah)

[Chorus]
I'm drivin' 'round in Hollywood
I can only think 'bout you, you (Think 'bout, think 'bout)
Everlasting pain and it weighs on my brain, like you
Did I lose it all? Did I fuck it up?
Are my friends really friends now or are they far gone?
On the drugs at a bar, took 'em all
Can't stop thinking 'bout you
[Verse 2]
Don't stop, I just wanna go fast
No sleep, I don't wanna relax
10 planes in five days, I been 'round the world and back again
Man I feel insane, I'm numb, can't stop the pain, no

[Pre-Chorus]
I don't wanna talk
I don't wanna smile, no, no
Got a couple problems
I don't wanna compromise, no, no

[Chorus]
Drivin' 'round in Hollywood, I can only think 'bout you
Everlasting pain and it weighs on my body, it's you
Did I fuck it up?
Are my friends really friends now? Are they all far gone? (Yeah)

On the drugs at a bar, took 'em all
Can't stop thinking 'bout you

About

Genius Annotation

“Thoughts” is one of the feature-free songs on Charli, the highly anticipated third studio album by British singer-songwriter Charli XCX. The song was written by Charli and her long time friend and collaborator A. G. Cook, who also produced the song. The song is about taking too many pills, drowning yourself in work and partying that feels like work, surrounding yourself with people, who you may or may not trust to just not be alone in the moment. Charli described it as “just a spiral of thoughts”, adding that some parts of the track were improvised on the spot instead of being written beforehand.

What did Charli XCX say about "Thoughts"?
Genius Answer

It really is just a spiral of thoughts. A.G. and I were working at Flume’s studio in LA. It was late one night and I just felt really frustrated cuz' I wasn’t focused. I was traveling loads and I was supposed to be in studio writing but I was being pulled back and forth in a million directions. My phone kept ringing and I just wanted to fucking focus and write music. So I took all the calls and did all the stuff I had to do but was really frustrated.

Then I came back in the room and A. G. was playing this initial track idea he had. I got on the mic immediately and just sang what was in my head. It wasn’t pre-planned or anything. Parts of that original vocal take are still inn the final song. I think that’s my favorite solo song on Charli.
