Hard, Hard Time Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I've become acquainted with the dead
And the gratitude I owe to them, I could never comprehend
So many things I still wanna say
And if the word is true, then I will get a chance someday

[Chorus]
But I have a hard, hard time believin'
Anything on the other side
Could be better than the love that you're leavin'
When you finally close your eyes
So, live your life

[Verse 2]
When I think about my past
And all those things I know I won't outlast
Likе how my debts will go unpaid
Livin' in this everlastin' judgеment day

[Chorus]
But I have a hard, hard time believin'
That anything on the other side
Could be better than the love that you're leavin'
When you finally close your eyes
So, live your life
[Bridge]
But I (But I)
But I (But I)
But I (But I)
But I

[Chorus]
I have a hard, hard time believin'
That anything on the other side
Could be better than the love that you're leavin'
When you close your eyes
So live your life

What have the artists said about the song?
Genius Answer

Dallas Green:

This song is very much questioning religion and the idea of living your life a certain way so that you can have a better afterlife and failing to recognise the one that’s directly in front of you. And I’m not trying to say that in an antagonistic way. I’m just stating the obvious, I think. Sonically, musically and attitude-wise, I wanted the song to be very jovial and uplifting. What’s more joyful than a guitar solo?
