Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now / Jus Better Lyrics

[Verse 1: Morrissey & Yeat]
I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour (yeah, ah)
But heaven knows I'm miserable now (yeah, ah)
I was looking for a job and then I found a job (yeah, ah)
And heaven knows I'm miserable now (yeah, ah)

[Refrain 1: Morrissey & Yeat]
In my life, why do I give valuable time (yeah, ah)
To people who don't care if I live or die? (yeah, ah)

[Verse 2]
Two lovers entwined pass me by
And heaven knows I'm miserable now
I was looking for a job and then I found a job
And heaven knows I'm miserable now

[Refrain 1: Morrissey & Yeat]
In my life, oh, why do I give valuable time (yeah, ah)
To people who don't care if I live or die? (yeah, ah)

[Verse 3]
What she asked of me at the end of the day
Caligula would have blushed
"Oh, you've been in the house too long", she said
And I naturally fled
[Refrain 2]
In my life, why do I smile
At people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?

[Verse 4: Morrissey & Yeat]
I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour (yeah, ah)
But heaven knows I'm miserable now (yeah, ah)
"Oh, you've been in the house too long", she said (yeah, ah)
And I naturally fled (yeah, ah)

[Refrain 1: Morrissey & Yeat]
In my life, oh, why do I give valuable time (yeah, ah)
To people who don't care if I live or die? (yeah, ah)

Genius Annotation

On this mashup, Dwellsnyc brings Manchester rock band The Smiths with California rapper Yeat, putting vocals from the Smiths' 1984 song “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now” over the instrumental to Yeat’s 2022 song “Jus bëtter”, with Yeat’s ad-libs from “Jus bëtter” being used as well as backing vocals to The Smiths' lead vocalist Steve Morrissey.

This is a rather fitting collaboration, as Yeat’s legal last name is actually Smith.
