Smell of the Game Lyrics

[Chorus]
That is bullshit!
Blazing!
Still my heart is blazing!

If I lose my wings
I don't need a new world order
You can't feel a thing
We already know the smell of game
Remember you are blazing!
Still your heart is blazing!
If the "words" made you
I don't need a new world order
You... soon you will know
We already know the smell of the game

[Bridge]
What am I? (ad infinitum)
Mankind knew that they cannot change society
So instead of reflecting on themselves, they blamed the beasts
But they found beauty in the lives of beasts
And couldn't lie to themselves about it
I'm just a small part of the world...
But no one could break me!!!

Can't you see I'm blazing?
Still my heart is blazing

If the "words" killed me
I don't need a new world order
You... my tribe is my world
Your "words" will never make me disappear
[Chorus]
That is bullshit!
Blazing!
Still my heart is blazing!

If the "words" killed me
I don't need a new world order
You... soon you will know
We already know the smell of the
Know the smell of the
Know the smell of the
Know the smell of the game

Genius Annotation

Performed and released in 2019 by video game developer, artist and musician Daisuke Ishiwatari and collaborator Naoki Hashimoto of the Japanese thrash metal band Outrage for inclusion in the latest release of Ishiwatari’s sci-fi rock fighting game series Guilty Gear, “Smell of the Game” can be seen as a song about both the Guilty Gear series as whole, and it’s central protagonist Sol Badguy. A 20+ year old video game franchise at the time of the song’s release, Guilty Gear was contending with how to remain vital and relevant in the face of aging, and the expectations that had been set on the series. Similarly, the central protagonist Sol is a seemingly unaging, lawless warrior wielding a blazing fire, who finds himself chafing against his own decades long life and the expectations of the world to adhere to law and order.
