Look At Us Now (Honeycomb) Lyrics

[Verse 1: Sam Claflin]
I don't know who I am
Baby, baby, baby
Do you know who you are?
Is it out of our hands?
Tell me, tell me, tell me
How we made it this far

[Pre-Chorus: Sam Claflin & Riley Keough]
Did we unravel a long time ago?
Is there too much we don't wanna know?
I wish it was easy, but it isn't so

[Chorus: Sam Claflin & Riley Keough]
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
Oh, we could make a good thing bad

[Verse 2: Riley Keough]
Now, where do we stand?
Baby, baby, baby
No one knows who you are, mm
And if this was your plan
Tell me, tell me why
You've been cryin' in the dark

[Pre-Chorus: Sam Claflin & Riley Keough]
We unraveled a long time ago
We lost and we couldn't let it go
I wish it was easy, but it isn't so
So, baby
[Chorus: Sam Claflin & Riley Keough]
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
Oh, we could makе a good thing bad
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
Oh, we could makе a good thing bad

[Instrumental Break]

[Bridge: Sam Claflin & Riley Keough]
How did we get here? How do we get out?
We used to be somethin' to see
Oh, baby, look at us now
Oh, baby, look at us now
This thing we've been doin' ain't workin' out
Why can't you just admit it to me?
Oh, baby, look at us now
Oh, baby, look at us now
Oh, baby, look at us now
Oh, baby, look at us now
Oh, baby, look at us now
How did we get here? How do we get out?
This thing we've been doin' ain't workin' out
Oh, how did we get here? How do we get out?
We used to be something to see
Oh, baby, look at us now
Baby, look at us now
This thing we've been doin' ain't workin' out
Why can't you just admit it to me?
Oh, baby, look at us now
Baby, look at us now
How did we get here? How do we get out?
We used to be something to see
Oh, baby, look at us now
Baby, look at us now
This thing we've been doin' ain't workin' out
Why can't you just admit it to me?
Oh, baby, look at us now
Baby, look at us now
[Chorus: Sam Claflin & Riley Keough]
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
Oh, we could make a good thing bad

Genius Annotation

In the new trailer for Daisy Jones & The Six, Billy Dunne tells Daisy Jones that this song is about “starting a new life. It’s about dreaming of something different.” The lyrics for ‘Look At Us Now (Honeycomb)’ seem to tell a different story than ‘Honeycomb’ in the novel.

In the novel, Billy wrote Honeycomb as a love song and pledge to Camila. He said it was about “a happy ending after turmoil”. Karen claimed that Billy was writing songs to convince himself that his future was secure and under control, when it reality it was always at risk of him relapsing.
The song was originally released by The Six, but then when Daisy Jones performed the song with them at a concert, they proceeded to release a new version by Daisy Jones & The Six. Daisy changed the lyrics to add a sense of doubt and questioning, which Billy did not approve of; however, Daisy’s changes stuck. Karen said, “Honeycomb used to be a song about security, and it became a song about insecurity.”
