Homiesexual Lyrics

[Chorus: Daniel Caesar]
Heard you found someone else
To sleep next to you
Homiesexual, but girl, I ain't judgin'
I know you were sick of my shit
Found yourself a bitch
One that's celibate, but I know you're frontin'

[Post-Chorus: Daniel Caesar]
'Cause I know you like it nasty
Can't get that shit past me
I'm grabbin' your throat
But I really hope you're happy
Miss that booty clapping
Wish you were home

[Verse 1: Daniel Caesar]
Take time to reminisce
I know that you're feelin' it
You miss me a little bit
Blow me a little kiss
When you see me, please believe me
I know you better, maybe, than you know yourself
Plus you see me everywhere, that doesn't help
So let me be the person that's gon' notify you (Notify you)
Despite your efforts I'm gon' end up back beside you (Beside you)
And you wouldn't have it any other way (Way)
Yesterday, tomorrow, always
[Chorus: Daniel Caesar]
Heard you found someone else
To sleep next to you
Homiesexual, but girl, I ain't judgin'
I know you were sick of my shit
Found yourself a bitch
One that's celibate, but I know you're frontin'

[Post-Chorus: Daniel Caesar]
'Cause I know you like it nasty
Can't get that shit past me
I'm grabbin' your throat
But I really hope you're happy
Miss that booty clappin'
Wish you were home

[Verse 2: Ty Dolla $ign]
Yeah, heard you found someone else, still ain't even find yourself
Sitting in my hotel, just scrolling and I noticed that your page on private
Why you hide yourself?
Why, my girl? I never meant to make you cry, my girl
Know you that caught me in some lies, oh well
I'm not perfect, it's no worse than people in churches
We ain't gotta do the back and forth with each other like a versus
'Cause it is what it is and it ain't what it ain't
And they can never love you like I can, love you like I can
Someone said they seen you with your new man
Oh, I heard you found someone else
[Chorus: Daniel Caesar, Ty Dolla $ign]
Heard you found someone else (You found someone else)
To sleep next to you (Oh, I heard, to sleep next to you)
Homiesexual, but girl, I ain't judgin' (Yeah)
Girl I ain't judging (Girl I ain't judging)
I know you were sick of my shit (Sick of my)
Found yourself a bitch (Found yourself)
One that's celibate, but I know you're frontin' (I know you frontin')

[Post-Chorus: Daniel Caesar, Ty Dolla $ign]
'Cause I know you like it nasty (Know you like it nasty)
Can't get that shit past me (Past me)
I'm grabbin' your throat (Ooh)

Genius Annotation

Several ways to interpret this song.
From one point of view, Caesar reminisces about an old girlfriend who has now started a same-sex relationship. LGBTQIA.wiki states “largely for individuals who previously thought they were heterosexual but then feel sexual attraction to a friend of the same gender”.
In Caesar’s case, his former romantic partner has now started a relationship with another girl. “Homiesexual, but, girl I ain’t judging.”
From the other perspective, Caesar may be talking about a former girlfriend that is in a relationship now with a man that Caesar feels is inadequate, or doesn’t measure up. “Found yourself a bitch, one that’s celibate, but I know you’re fronting”. From this interpretation, he means that this ex of his is now possibly dating one of her male friends. However, Caesar believes he does not engage in sexual with activities her. Caesar remembers the times where she “liked it nasty” and is now living this new celibate life with a new partner, putting up a “front”.
