Natasha refuses to allow Sonya or Marya D to comfort her, and reveals to the family that she has declined Prince Audrey’s suit.

Marya D. tries to convince Natasha that Anatole has acted in a dishonourable way. Natasha insists that he is better than any of them. She throws herself onto the sofa and refuses to get up.
