An early version of what would become I’m Afraid of Americans, the fourth single off of Bowie’s 1997 Album Earthling. Though originally recorded during the sessions for Earthling’s predecessor, 1995’s 1. Outside, this version would not see an official release until its inclusion on the limited, physical-only Brilliant Adventure EP in 2022.
This version is even more significantly different from the final version than that previously released on the soundtrack for the 1995 film Showgirls: Many lines from the final version are missing, and the chorus is completely different in lyrics and melody.
