“Sweetest Perfection” is the second track on Depeche Mode’s seventh and most successful album Violator.

On the 25th anniversary of the album’s release, Billboard pondered, “Whether ‘the sweetest injection’ is a reference to sex or drugs, the inclusion of the word ‘infection’ suggests a self-destructive aspect to the narrator’s pursuit of pleasure.” Slant Magazine had similar thoughts in 2003 about songwriter Martin Gore’s intertwining of sex and addiction on the track.
