About the song, Disclosure said:

It’s a proper collab. He was there on the piano as well, helping with chords and melodies. If you’re into neo-soul like D’Angelo and Erykah Badu vibes like we are. We always wanted to make a song like that. This was the time that we could bring Disclosure elements to that world and meet in the middle somewhere.

Also on why they titled this last song “Masterpiece” Howard says:

We were like, “This is fucking hilarious. Let’s definitely do it.” It’s called “Masterpiece” because what we’re talking about is a masterpiece, not because the song or the album is a masterpiece.
