Genius Annotation
“Holy Key” is a collaboration between DJ Khaled, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar and Betty Wright that appears on Khaled’s 2016 project, Major Key. This is an early version of the track that leaked on May 23, 2019; it was first heard about a year earlier when a snippet surfaced online on May 18, 2018.
This demo of the track features a rough mix (labeled “Lu Diaz Mix CT3_18”) and autotune on top of Sean’s verse which also ends differently. Based on Khaled’s explanation of how the song came together and his comments on how he wanted them to perform, it’s possible that Sean changed his verse after he heard Kendrick’s.
