While there is no specific reference to any group of people, in twigs' own words, via an Instagram AMA for MAGDALENE’s one year anniversary, she answered:
the thousand eyes that i sing about on the first song of my album refers to the chorus of people who have an opinion on the choices made in ones life.
Speaking in an interview with i-D Magazine, twigs said:
I thought, that if I was anything less than perfect I was going to be completely torn apart publicly.
